Members of the trade union committee Semyonov and Yushenkov were reprimanded by the director of OAO Burneft for failure to fulfill the drilling plan. The trade union committee of the joint-stock company suggested that the director cancel the order. The director did not agree with the requirements of the trade union committee, saying that only Semyonov and Yushenkov could challenge his order, from whom no applications have been received so far. Does the trade union committee, on its own initiative, have the right to act in defense of workers whose rights have been violated? Is such a form of representation (protection) of the interests of trade union members provided for in the current legislation?
