Phew, this was intense!
The instructions I got were kinda weird; also, even with a tunnel interface global route-everything kind of VPN (Germany, Aeza) it didn´t accept the code because of the region. I got paranoid enough that I even changed my OS´ time zone and made sure WebRTC doesn´t leak my IP address - still no luck.
After reading the reviews I tried the disgusting free Hola chrome extension and holy heck, it worked.
I created a new profile, installed Hola, opened www.perplexity.ai (just the landing page, not the link the seller sent), chose Germany in Hola, closed the perplexity tab, cleared all the browsing data, opened the link the seller gave, entered the code and it worked fine with Hola´s DigitalOcean German IP address.
Sorta too much hassle but hey, it´s just two bucks.
